ELECTORAL COLLEGE EKS
I personally do not believe that the "electoral college" system is a good way to elect our chief executive. Although this was agreed upon by the founding fathers, it is an invalid way of voting! our president should be chosen by the number of votes from citizens each candidate gets (one vote per citizen). Some may argue that this gives less power to the smaller states and that the electoral college evens this. But, the electoral college gives too much power to smaller states such as Wyoming! I think that that an only population (citizens) vote would work better if only the people were more open minded and didn't care only about their own state. if this were the case, a candidate from California could still fairly win if enough people from states on the east coast (for example) liked them. And if that same candidate wasn't the best, they wouldn't be voted for simply because the California citizens wanted to support their state!

The Pearl questions response
I think that this means that the pearl and everything it brought the family is now permanently gone. The pearl seemed good at first but then became a symbol of anger and greed. When Kino threw it back into the ocean it means that the greed is gone and the family and the rest of the town can once again have a normal life.
